Hailing from a horticultural background Tom Petherick has spent all of his life in the world of organic horticulture and agriculture.
He offers a full garden and farm consultancy service with a focus on organics and biodynamics. His specialism lies in advising clients on how to set up land-based projects and how to bring old gardens and farms back to life. He places particular emphasis on soil health, composting and an understanding of the importance of working with nature. His approach is a holistic one and he took his first Permaculture Design Course more than 25 years ago.
During his long and varied career since qualifying from Oaklands College with a Dip.Hort he worked at Heligan for six years during which time he wrote two books about the gardens. His own farm is certified both organic and biodynamic by Demeter for whom he is also a farm and garden inspector. His services include design, mentoring and advice on all areas to do with sensitive and ethical garden and land management. His list of clients include The Prince of Wales (with partners Adam Hunt and Lulu Urquhart), Prideaux Place in Cornwall and several properties belonging to The National Trust.
Tom runs courses from his garden and farm where clients are able to come and see what he does for themselves.
